Text Box: Karina Yamileth Sanchez Cano
Karina came to live at the Good Shepherd Children’s Home February 2, 2000. She was born April 6, 1995. She lives here with her older sister Maria and younger brother Carlito. She has the sweetest smile and spirit despite the hard life she has faced. Karina was born with a physical problem and had a colostomy. She didn't allow this problem to slow her down a bit. After coming here she began to pray asking God to heal her. God answered her prayers through BMDMI's Project Life program. She was able to spend 6 months in the U.S. to have a colostomy  reversal operation. Now she is perfectly normal and so happy.
Karina comes from a very poor family and has five siblings. Three of them live with other family members or are on their own. Her father is an alcoholic and works at times in the coffee fields. Her mother, who is also an alcoholic, is incapable of caring for her children. The walls and roof of the family home is made of wood, sticks, and cardboard and it also has dirt floors. It has no electricity, water or bathroom facilities inside or even an outhouse.
God has placed Karina here at the GSCH where she is learning that God comes first and does answer prayers.  She is so happy here and is doing very well in school.
Karina still needs your help not only in prayer but also in financial support. For just $25 per month, you can help provide the food, shelter, clothing, education, medical and dental care she needs. Can Karina count on you to help her have a happy and meaningful life?
