Magdalena  “Nena” Meléndez Campos
Magdalena, known as “Nena” came to live at the Good Shepherd Children’s Home in June of 2003. She was born July 14, 1999. She lives here with her three sisters and two brothers.
Nena came to the GSCH through the abused women’s shelter where she lived with her Mom and other siblings for over a year. In this shelter they remain locked in a room so they would not see or hear the suffering of the women that arrived each day. They were not allowed to play outside and this began to depress the children.
When Nena’s mother was 5 years old, she began suffering abuse at the hands of her family. When she became an adult she married a very abusive husband. Domestic violence ravaged Nena’s home and of course she and her siblings received much of the abuse. Each of the children have suffered direct physical and mental abuse from their father.
Nena and her siblings all showed signs of extreme abuse and insecurity. They are now on the road to recovery and with God’s love and healing they will overcome. The violence has ended and now life can begin.
Nena needs your help not only in prayer but also in financial support. For just $25 per month, you can help supply the food, shelter, clothing, education, medical and dental care she needs. Can she count on you to help provide the necessities for her to have a happy and meaningful life?
