Marilyn Meléndez Campos
Marilyn came to live at the Good Shepherd Children’s Home in June of 2003. She was born Jan. 10, 1995. She lives here with her three sisters and two brothers.
Marilyn came to the GSCH through the abused women’s shelter where she lived with her Mom and other siblings for over a year. In this shelter they remain locked in a room so they would not see or hear the suffering of the women that arrived each day.
Marilyn’s mother at 5 years old began suffering abuse at the hands of her family and married an abusive husband. Domestic violence ravaged Marilyn’s home and of course carried over to the children. Each child suffered direct physical and mental abuse from their father but it appears that Marilyn suffered the most assaults.
While in the women’s shelter they met the previous director of IHNFA. She in turn contacted Greg and Eva and pleaded with them to accept these 6 children who were losing their education and spending their lives locked in a back room for protection.
Finally after 3 months of receiving calls once a week Casitas 4 and 5 opened allowing Greg and Eva to accept Marilyn and her 5 siblings.
Marilyn and her siblings all showed signs of extreme domestic violence and insecurity. They are now on the road to recovery and with God’s Love and healing they can overcome. The violence has ended……now life can begin.
