The numbers from the dental team of Dr. Mark Evans that was here a couple weeks ago (stats to the right), including one hygienist & 2 dental assistants.  As you will see, we were EXTREMELY busy! They worked Mon-Fri, 8am-7pm, cutting off Friday at 3pm so we could get out of there before the rain came. The team flew in Sunday, July 11 & left Saturday the 17th. I made appointments ahead of time, focusing on the most pressing needs (deep cavities, extractions, & teeth requiring root canal treatment). Most of the children they treated had over 15+ teeth needing restoring. Know the number of completed treatment plans is actually higher, for about 15-20 charts only lack prophies/cleanings to be 100% complete.

As for future plans, we have a general dentist, Dr. Alegra Midgley with a strong background in pedodontics coming to help in the dental clinic August 3-6. August 7-13, Dr. John Howell, a prosthadontist, will be coming with a hygienist. Around the second week of January, we will have the team of Dr. Greg Hughes coming back to Honduras, focusing on the GSCH & dental clinic (which will actually correspond well to a 6 month recall program for all of our kids on the property).

I pray that by the end of Dec/Jan we will have all of our kids taken care of dentally, restored well, & can then focus on “maintaining”---with a strong emphasis on prevention with good oral hygiene instructions & diet control (decreasing sugar, increasing fluoride & knowledge).

Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to take care of our children & raise funding for the purchase of more dental supplies. —BMDMI Missionary Tina Woods, DMD

Notice of departures - two more are leaving TheGSCH
Juan Carlos Juan Carlos Cruz Ramos, 17 ½ years old is no longer at GSCH and will soon be reunited with family.  He has struggled for some time with rules and a quick tempered. Like many teens he is looking for who he is. He is a good young man in some ways but must learn obedience and how to control his anger.  He has been counseled many times on this and like many he needs to turn it all over to God and then his good points will shine.
Jessenia Jessenia Mabeli Martinez Elvir, 18 yrs old, has wanted to return to her mother so she could help in their home.  Before she was 17 yrs old she asked her mother if she would allow her to return home but her mother could not  allow it.  Now that she is to be 18 yrs old she can help in the home and maybe find a small job somewhere.   Be in prayer for Jessenia and her family as she adjusts back to life with them.
